Citrus Model Railroad Club's First Tuesday Of The Month Meeting:

Attention All Club Members: We have a new "home" for our monthly Tuesday evening meetings:
The Horticulture Building located right on the Citrus County Fair grounds.
Until further notice, all of our Tuesday evening meetings will be in the new facility starting at 6:30pm.

According to Spud, our September 7th meeting was a huge success!  It was the first of two laser kit building classes, including tricks and techniques which were demonstrated.  Members could purchase their own kit or team up with someone, or just come and watch!  Assistance was given to the participants in the completion of their projects.  It was a large turnout, good instruction, lots of fun, plus good progress on the kits being built.
Spud says: "If we all do our 'homework', we should be able to finish the kits at the October meeting.

'Rails USA' - Rail Site Directory
This is a quick note to tell all club members that the Citrus Model Railroad Club's web site was added to the popular
Rails-USA rail site directory and also the National Model Railroad Association's site too!  Our hope is that we'll get more internet
traffic visiting our site, as well as increased club exposure on the web.  The nice part is that you can also do a search to see what
other railroad clubs on the web across the USA are doing.  Just go to: RAILS-USA, or visit the NMRA web site.

CMRC/NMRA Event:
The Citrus Model Railroad Club hosted an all-day NMRA Conference of the Western Division of the Sunshine Region on Saturday June 19, 2010 at the Citrus County Fairgrounds Auditorium on State Road 41, two miles south of Inverness, Florida.  The meeting included interesting clinics, model railroad displays, lunch and a tour of the construction going on with the club's new red caboose entrance
and HO layout .  Everyone was invited and the turnout was fantastic!  Visit our 'Club Photos' page to see all the great pictures!

2010 Citrus County Fair!
From March 29th to April 3rd, 2010, all our club layouts were operating every afternoon and evening to help attract the public to the event.  A special thanks goes to all our club members who participated and helped out.  Photos were taken the last day of the Fair (Saturday April 2nd), and are now posted.  Click on the camera!

2010 Regional Train Convention:
It all took place Saturday February 27th At The Manatee Civic and Convention Center in Palmetto.  Many NMRA as well as CMRC members attended the event which included complimentary tickets to The Sarasota Railroad Festival and Model Railroad Train Show, and to the Sunshine Region's 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Ride A Caboose Pulled By A Real Steam Locomotive!
CMRC members and their guests enjoyed a 90 minute ride in an old time caboose behind a coal fired steam engine on Saturday February 20th at the Florida Railroad Museum in Parrish.  Club members and their guests also enjoyed an early dinner following the ride at the Roaring 20's Pizza Restaurant in Ellenton.  Pictures are posted on the Club Photos page, courtesy of Denis Riley and David Marquis.
